Homework

We encourage all children to read books at home and ask parents to help them with this, and to write comments in the home/school reading log. At times they will bring home some maths to do with parents. This tends to be a practical task, perhaps a game or some weighing or work with money.

As children mature we will ask them to practice number bonds or tables at home, and parents can be a great help with these.  After discussion with parents it was decided that children should be given a small number of spellings to learn each week at home and school. Children begin these as soon as they are ready - generally in their first or second term at school. We must emphasise that all these activities are designed to support the work we do in school and are not meant to place undue pressure on children.
